Illumination Works (ILW) is proud to announce a contract award with the US Army to advance our Odin™ Data Rights (DR) solution to provide an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven automated data surveillance application for technical data rights related to ground vehicle systems.

Odin-DR uses intelligent data fusion leveraging machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) to produce robust, richly formatted data to enable an improved understanding of large volumes of technical and engineering documents. ILW developed the Odin innovation through Phase I and II Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contracts with the Air Force and is excited to advance this solution across services into the Army environment.

Managing Immense Volumes of Technical & Engineering Documents

One of the biggest challenges faced by organizations tasked with vehicle maintenance and sustainment is the need to review third-party vendor technical data packages containing immense volumes of data. These technical data and engineering documents, such as specifications, maintenance procedures, drawings, and calculations capture vital details about the design, development, engineering, and sustainment of products and materials produced by suppliers and manufacturers. These documents are key to operating, sustaining, and repairing components and can be complex, detailed, and challenging to validate. Due to time and workforce constraints, often only the critical areas of the data are reviewed leaving unknown risk factors.

Intelligent Data Fusion of IP Data Rights for Accelerated Decision Advantage

To address the Army’s pressing need for automated technical data markings verification, ILW will demonstrate a solution that will quickly and accurately vet thousands of technical data deliverables.

The Odin-DR solution will provide the Army AI- and ML-driven processes to ease the manual workload of textual data processing, review, and insight extraction.

Odin-DR will deliver rapid understanding of technical data and automate textual data connections and linkages to improve productivity for Army personnel who manually review technical data packages.

Through this effort, ILW will migrate Odin-DR to a cloud environment and evaluate XM30 combat vehicle data to determine data rights gaps and missing documents for a target technical implementation.

Technologies demonstrated during this effort will help develop strategies, use cases, and data analyses common across platforms and provide inputs for a sustainment strategy to propel the Army towards improved efficiencies, lower costs, and a higher level of customer services.

Illumination Works is excited to partner with the Army on this critical need area. Odin-DR is a powerful decision support system bringing automation to the technical data package review process. Odin-DR will empower the Army with rapid, automated understanding of data rights marking issues and contractual data delivery compliance so programs can take timely action to resolve data delivery issues and better position for long-term weapon system supportability.
