In her new role, Janette will play a crucial role in the organization’s executive leadership and assist the Defense Division Senior Vice President in running all aspects of project execution, contract management, team leadership, financial management, staffing, and business development.

Janette has been a key innovator and leader for us in our Data Science Practice and has driven ILW to new heights in applied AI efforts. Since joining ILW seven years ago, I have had the privilege of being part of our delivery teams, designing and implementing creative solutions to realize automation and efficiency gains for our Department of Defense customers. I am excited for this opportunity to take on additional leadership within ILW’s Defense Division, further supporting our exceptional project teams and customers.
Janette has successfully led numerous client engagements, ensuring customer satisfaction via excellence in ILW’s project delivery. Efforts include easing document generation to support the acquisition and contracting lifecycles, self-healing data, and AI-driven aids for additive manufacturing engineers.
In addition, Janette is responsible for driving the expansion of the ILW Data Science Practice, providing support to ILW’s Defense and Commercial Divisions in proposal development, project design, and data science marketing/sales and serving as a mentor for team members, facilitating career growth and development.

As a strong advocate for ILW innovation, Janette’s strategic vision and commitment to excellence have been a driving force in the development of numerous data science solutions—creating a lasting impact for both our employees and our clients. Janette Steets has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh with 20+ years of experience in research and data science. She has an extensive background in experimental design and statistical analysis and has published over 25 articles in well-respected, peer-reviewed journals. Outside of work, Janette loves spending time with her amazing husband, son, daughter, and dog. She is a proud mother who adores supporting her children during their academic and extracurricular activities, including Irish dance, cross country, track and field, and scouting. As a family unit, they enjoy cycling, hiking, playing board games, and cooking together. Janette also appreciates quiet walks and runs on her own, which affords her some time to process ideas.
