Illumination Works (ILW) is proud to announce our award of a Phase II Accelerated Delivery and Acquisition of Prototype Technologies (ADAPT) Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) with the Office of Naval Research (N68335-21-C-0175) to extend and adapt our self-healing data tool for Department of the Navy (DON) use.
Automated Self-Healing Data
ILW’s Automated Data Cleansing and Analysis Tool (ADCAT) automatically heals errors in data to empower the DON with higher quality data to drive greater confidence for decision-making and improved productivity. ADCAT is a flexible, expandable, platform agnostic solution that can be incorporated into DON data pipelines at the point of input or the backend after data has been ingested into a system.
Enhancing ADCAT Capabilities
This Phase II effort will enhance ADCAT to provide a powerful and holistic solution leveraging machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to identify and repair errors in diverse DON datasets, healing errors at the point of data entry and post processing in the data systems.
ILW successfully completed the SBIR Phase I feasibility effort, which applied robust NLP and machine learning classifier algorithms to self-heal errors in coded fields within NAVAIR aircraft maintenance data and the Naval Enterprise Sustainment Technology Team (NESTT). Additionally, ILW prototyped a human-in-the-loop error correction recommendation solution that utilized probabilistic graphical modelling techniques for error correction and applied this solution to simulated NAVSEA labor data. Overall, these cleansing approaches provided up to 95% accuracy in error correction.
Illumination Works is proud to continue to partner with the Navy on this important endeavor. The Navy community needs a robust tool, like ADCAT, that identifies and accurately repairs errors in data in an automated manner. This tool will enable Navy analysts and other end-users to focus on their core mission and spend less time cleansing data.
